Oprah & I - One in the same!

Categories | Celebretastic, Hot Hot Mess |

It’s no secret that she’s had an up-and-down battle with her weight for years. And following a 40-pound weight gain (putting her at 200 pounds), Oprah Winfrey is declaring war on her flab.

She told press, “I’m mad at myself,” over her newly-acquired pounds, admitting that she’s “fallen off the wagon.” And Winfrey admits that she’s tired of constantly battling the bulge.

“I’m embarrassed … I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, ‘How did I let this happen again?’”

And now that she’s getting real about her weight, Oprah pledges to do whatever it takes to get healthy again. She’ll address the issue on her January 5th show, kicking off her “Best Life Week.”

Perez talks Britney Again!

Categories | Celebretastic, Music |

Perez Hilton, gay gossip columnist, had recently stopped blogging about Britney Spears and other Sony BMG Artists after he was slapped with a lawsuit for posting some leaked Britney Spears songs from her last album, Blackout, on his website PerezHilton.com

Well a settlement, although not disclosed, was reached and he has resumed talk of some of the celebrities & musicians who helped his website thrive in the past. This should help his website thrive again because I’ve noticed lately comments on his blogs have dropped drastically. I enjoy reading his site and hope it continues to thrive in the years to come because I love me some celebrity gossip.

Welcome To The Gayborhood!

Wow. I had NO IDEA! I knew Wanda Sykes was friendly with the "Gays" but had no clue she was one herself! YAY! I’m glad she is and that she is in a position to "represent" and stand up for our community! Loves it! See what she has to say below!

Wanda Sykes opened up about her sexuality in Las Vegas on Saturday — thanks to the passing of Prop. 8.

"You know, I don’t really talk about my sexual orientation," she told a crowd rallying for the nationwide protest against the California ballot initiative, according to The Associated Press. "I didn’t feel like I had to [before]. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life."

"Everybody that knows me personally, they know I’m gay," she added. "But that’s the way people should be able to live their lives."

But the November 4 passing of Prop. 8, which bans same-sex marriages in the state, made her feel "attacked" — and pushed her into action.

"Now, I gotta get in their face," she reportedly said. "I’m proud to be a woman. I’m proud to be a black woman, and I’m proud to be gay."

Wanda, who was in Sin City to perform at Planet Hollywood, was a surprise addition at the rally. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, celebs appeared at related demonstrations throughout the country on Saturday, with T.R. Knight, Ricki Lake and more making appearances in LA.

Celebs And The Fight Against Prop 8!!!

The everyday citizens of California aren’t the only ones outraged by the narrow passing of Proposition 8 on Election Day, a proposition that bans gay marriages. A slew of big-name celebrities are also outraged over gay marriage (which had been legal in California), being deemed illegal, and said stars are doing their part to speak out against the ban.

On Wednesday, Rose McGowan, Ricki Lake and Wanda Sykes all took part in a California protest, during which opponents of Prop 8 marched down West Hollywood’s Santa Monica Blvd.

Singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge is taking an even more drastic approach of expressing her dismay over the passing of the proposition. The openly gay Etheridge, who had hoped to marry partner Tammy Lynn Michaels blogged, “I am taking [Prop 8] to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes because I am not a full citizen.” She makes a pretty good point, doesn’t she? Why should she pay the same taxes as citizens who are guaranteed more rights than she is? If Prop 8 holds up, we can’t help but hope that Etheridge goes all the way to court with this one…because it will really put the state of California in one heck of an awkward legal situation…

During her concert Thursday night, Madonna told the crowd, “”If we can have an African-American in the White House, we can have gay marriage.” Christina Aguilera echoed the sentiment, telling MTV News, “Prop 8 is discrimination. I don’t understand how people can be so closed-minded and judgmental. [Given Obama's win], this is a time in history of great change and open-mindedness, Why is this any different? Why you would put so much money behind something aimed at stopping people from loving each other and bonding together?”

One thing’s for sure. If those against gay marriage in California thought the passing of Proposition 8 would be enough to put the issue of gay marriage to rest, they’d best think again. We have a feeling that those in favor of giving equal rights to everyone will continue to fight the ban until they don’t have to fight it anymore. Sorry, self-righteous heterosexuals of California. Not that you’re not doing an epic job upholding the sanctity of marriage on your own (what with our country’s 60% divorce rate and all), but eventually, you’re going to have to give the gays a go at it.

Listen To Cho - VOTE NO!

Wow, Props to him for taking a stand. I was already a fan but now I’m an even bigger fan!

Britney’s case Dismissed!!!

After three days of deliberations, a dozen citizens threw up their hands Tuesday and said they could not agree on whether the oft-troubled entertainer was guilty of driving without a license during a fender bender last year. Ten jurors wanted to acquit. Two voted for conviction.

A prosecutor later said that in light of the jury split, he was dropping the case, but not his belief that Spears was guilty. Voicing a complaint common to those who prosecute famous defendants in matters big and small, Deputy City Atty. Michael Amerian said, “It just goes to show, I think, how difficult it is to convict any celebrity of a crime here in Los Angeles.”The grudging dismissal was a fitting conclusion to a 13-month legal battle that featured lofty principles, rock-bottom stakes and the complete absence of the woman at its center.

Britney Jury… Deadlocked!

After a second day of deliberation, the foreman said they had failed to reach a unanimous conclusion after three votes.

The charge relates to an incident in Los Angeles last August, when Ms Spears was photographed hitting a parked car and leaving the scene.

The 26-year-old has been exercising her right to stay away from court.

Jurors said on Monday that votes were stuck at 10-2, without revealing which way they were leaning.

Superior Court Judge James A Steele questioned whether more could be done to encourage discussion or reach a verdict.

"I think with each return to the assembly room, everyone becomes more entrenched in their position," the foreman replied.

There was no mention during the trial of the accident that led to the charges, as agreed by the defence and prosecution.

The omission led to the jury’s other question: "Why was she stopped in the first place?"

During the trial, the prosecution said it was "a straightforward case" - the singer’s address was listed as Beverley Hills so she should have a Californian driving licence.

Ms Spears’ lawyer, J Michael Flanagan, told the jury during the defence that there was no dispute she had been driving but said that, at the time, she had a valid Louisiana driving licence.

He argued that Ms Spears did not need a Californian driving licence because she was only a temporary resident of Los Angeles.

Mr Flanagan rejected a plea deal which would have resulted in a $150 (£85) fine saying Ms Spears did not want a criminal record.

She faces up to six months in jail and a fine if convicted, but this is unlikely as she has no previous convictions.

Jurors have spent about six hours deliberating so far. They resume their deliberations on Tuesday morning.

Britney’s Website REDO!

In advance of her new album, Circus, Team Britney today unveiled a retooled BritneySpears.com that promises to allow the "Gimme More" singer to connect with her fans.

"Hi everybody, welcome to the real BritneySpears.com," she says in the site’s inaugural video post. "I’m taking you where no paparazzi lens ever could. I’ll be updating the site all the time with new videos and photos and lots of other cool stuff."

It’s been a banner week for the Britster. Her new song, "Womanizer," just hit No. 1 on the charts, smashing records in the process. The single is the lead track from Circus, due out on her 27th B-day, Dec. 2.

She’s also putting the finishing touches on her first world tour in years, introduced a new perfume and landed the cover of Glamour. Now if she could only make that whole trial thing go away.
