Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in Tampa, Fla., the NFL and NBC announced Sunday night.

Continuing a run of major talent that has lately included the Rolling Stones, U2, Paul McCartney, Prince and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the biggest television event in the nation will showcase one of its most beloved rock ‘n’ roll artists. The Super Bowl will be played Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.

Last year’s halftime show was watched by more than 148 million viewers in the U.S., the NFL said in its release. It wasn’t always that way: For years, the game’s halftime show was made up of local and college marching bands and drill teams.

Chubby Checker in 1988 was the first popular musician to perform at halftime, and Michael Jackson upped the ante in 1993. His sister Janet provided the show’s most infamous moment with 2004’s "wardrobe malfunction" — and the show has stuck with straight ahead rock acts ever since.

Actress Heather Locklear was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of controlled substances in Montecito, authorities said.

Locklear, who is no longer in custody, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol and booked about 7 p.m. after a citizen called 911 to report a woman’s erratic driving, said Tom Marshall, a spokesman for the CHP.

An 85-year-old great-grandma from North Carolina busted open a big old can of "Ohnoyoudidn’t" on a bumbling baddie who broke into her home, WPXI.com reports .

According to the cops, the 17-year-old suspect snuck into Leda Smith’s house overnight in a bid to burgle her.

What he didn’t know was … well … granny don’t play.

Smith spotted the young intruder, pulled a gun on him and told him she’d shoot him if he moved.

"I had the gun on him before he turned around and said ‘you’ve had it,’" Smith told WXPI.

But this gun-toting gram wasn’t done.

She forced the teen to pick up the phone, call 911 and report himself.

"Dial 911 and don’t attempt to throw the phone at me or do anything bad or I’ll just shoot you," Smith recalled to WXPI.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn.

When police arrived, they took the teen to the can.

Police say a bank teller in Long Island, New York, had a simple question for a would-be robber: Are you serious?

The skeptical teller’s question was apparently enough to spook the female suspect, who fled the Roslyn Savings Bank in Centereach late Thursday afternoon without a dime.

Police say she walked into the bank located inside a supermarket and handed the teller a note demanding cash and threatening to open fire if the teller didn’t comply.

That’s when the teller expressed her crime-fighting dubiousness and asked if the suspect was serious. Police say the woman left without ever showing a gun.

They say she is also a suspect in a robbery Tuesday at the Bank of Smithtown, also in Centereach, a Long Island town about 50 miles east of New York City.

You know.. I’ve always imagined myself saying the same thing…. "Are You Serious?"
