JT & The Quest for the Best: Beef Fajita Quesadilla
I Love Me Some Mexican Food and especially Beef Fajita Quesadillas so I decided to find the best Beef Fajita Quesadilla in my area. I ordered from several Restaurants and did my comparisons and there was a definite winner.
Let me start with Los Herradoras next to one of my weaknesses, King Buffet. I’ve seen this place so many times and I finally decided to try it. Upon entering the place was petty empty. It was a Monday at about 6:00pm. While I was there a few other people arrived. I was greeted by a very nice guy and after I placed my order was asked if I wanted a drink while I waited. (I got it to go). When I got home I opened the box. It looked pretty yummy! There was a nice portion size. Upon my first bite I was horrified. The Tortillas were dry and hard. The meat & cheese weren’t much better. On the plus side the Guacamole was very tasty and I had also ordered a Mexican Shrimp Cocktail which was nice and spicy. I would definitely try this place again but will never order quesadillas from here.
The next place I tried was Barcena’s Mexican Restaurant, on Bay Area Blvd, close to Baybrook Mall. I used to love this place when they were a little hole in the wall. Since they upgraded to a larger location I have barely visited. I placed my order to go as usual. I was sad to learn that Guacamole did not come with their quesadillas so I order an order of Guacamole. My total came to over 20.00 after I tipped. For Quesadillas!!! I took them home and they tasted really good and the Guacamole was good. The portion sizes were good as well and they should be for the price. If this place would lower its prices I’d definitely go back.
The third place on my list was Marina’s Mexican Restaurant on FM 518 right outside my neighborhood. It was dead when I arrived, again on a Monday around 6:30pm. I walked in and there was a sign that said Please wait to be seated. I waited and waited and waited. Finally I walked to the bar area and a restaurant worker saw me and I told him I wanted to get an order To Go. He said he would be right back. After almost 5 minutes I grabbed myself a menu and waited a couple more minutes. Finally the bartender walked out but didn’t acknowledge me. I finally got his attention and placed my order. The price on the menu was apparently wrong as I was charged 2.00 more than the menu price. It was about 13.00 for Quesadillas. I tipped 3.00 as usual for the to go order and took the food home. I was surprised by the portion. There was hardly any quesadillas but it did come with Rice & Beans. The Quesadillas were very tasty but based on the atmosphere and the staff I will never go here again.
Now, let me tell you where you can get GREAT Beef Fajita Quesadillas! Papagayos Mexican Grill, located on Scarsdale & Beamer, next to Hong Kong Food Market has the best Quesadillas around. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are great, and the staff are very friendly! I can order the quesadillas (which comes with Guacamole & sour Cream), Grilled Shrimp Brochette, and Chips & Salsa and after tip barely pay 20.00….. The Food is very tasty and I usually order that same thing everytime I go. It’s Great!
That’s It! If you have a place I should try leave a comment or send me an email.
